Heritage Homeschool Co-Op Member Guidelines

STATEMENT OF FAITH:

As an affiliate of OCHEC, all of our leaders agree to follow the following Statement of Faith:

Preface: Our Statement of Faith concerns the Person and Work of Jesus Christ (the Gospel) revealed in Scripture. It is the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 2, Eph. 4:5) which distinguishes believers from non-believers. There are many other precious truths taught in the Bible over which godly men have differed in understanding. Therefore, this is not a statement of all that is important to believe but of all that is essential to believe for Christian fellowship and unity (Rom. 15:7).

* We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired and only infallible Word of God, inerrant in the autographs (II Tim. 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21).

* We believe God is one being Who eternally exists as three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All of the persons are equal in power and glory (Matt. 28:19, II Cor. 13:14).

* We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and man (John 1:1, 14), born of a virgin (Matt. 1:18), sinless in His life (Heb. 4:15). He died on the cross as a substitution for sinful men (Heb. 9:15). He rose bodily from the grave (John 20:1-9, 24-31, Acts 2:24) and now reigns with the Father (Acts 2:33, Heb. 10:12). He will return visibly and personally to the earth both in salvation and judgment (Acts 1:11, Heb. 9:28, Matt. 24:35).

* We believe all humans are sinful by nature (Rom. 3:23, 5:12) and can only be forgiven by repentance and statement of trust in Jesus as Savior (John 3:16), brought about by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5-7).

* We believe in the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:1-17).

* We affirm the biblical definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9).

(While leaders of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op are required to sign a Statement of Faith, members are not held to these same standards. This being said, we are an openly and unapologetically Christian group by design, and as such, will be mentioning God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and other mainstream Christian concepts from time to time.)

THE MAKEUP OF HERITAGE HOMESCHOOL CO-OP:

Heritage Homeschool Co-Op Leadership...

The Board of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op currently consists of the following positions:

~ President (Cheri Burt)
~ Membership Coordinator (Stephanie Steely)
~ Treasurer (Tamera Martin)
~ Secretary (Annette Hinshaw)

These positions are not voted on but are hand-picked by the current Board. The leadership takes their positions very seriously and considers major issues prayerfully.

Voting...

The membership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op will vote on "minor" issues (i.e., - where to have a particular function or whether or not we should do a particular activity); however, "major" issues are left to the discretion and prayerful consideration of the leadership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op.

MEMBER GUIDELINES:

As members of an organized group, when we participate in activities, classes and functions, we represent Heritage Homeschool Co-Op, as well as other homeschoolers, through both our attitudes and behavior. We need to be courteous, attentive and arrive promptly on time so that the teacher, leader, or host will be encouraged to welcome us and other homeschoolers in the future. For these reasons, the leadership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op has decided upon this list of guidelines for our member families. These guidelines apply to all family members attending any field trip, class, or other activity, as well as, any guests that may accompany them.

General Guidelines...

When participating in a field trip, class, or other activity, the child(ren) attending should be age
appropriate to that activity. The child(ren) should be able to be attentive and follow directions so that they are not a distraction to the teacher, host, or to the rest of the group.

No child under the age of 10 is to be left at any class or function without an attending parent. If a parent is unable to attend a class or activity with their child, they have the option of making arrangements with another parent to be responsible for their child. This is the parent’s decision. Please, do not expect a teacher or leader to take on this responsibility.

Students are required to remain in the group setting at all times while attending the function.

No displays of affection will be allowed between students at any function.

If a field trip, class, or other activity requires a fee in advance, each family is responsible for mailing or delivering the fee to the teacher or field trip leader by the deadline. No refunds will be given after the deadline.

No alcohol, profanity, offensive language, or offensive conduct will be allowed.

Please be sure your clothing is appropriate for the activity or field trip. Shoes should also be sturdy enough for the activity.

Expectations of Basic Modesty...

~ Please, remember that modesty is to be portrayed by both parents and students.
~ Shorts and skirts must be at least fingertip length (when standing)
~ No visible undergarments – even when bending
~ No writing on the back of jeans, pants, or skirts
~ No bare mid-drifts – even in bending or when arms are raised
~ No offensive or profane words or pictures on shirts, jackets, etc.
~ No low-cut shirts without a tank top or appropriate undershirt. Blouses should be properly buttoned up unless worn with an appropriate undershirt.

Illness Guidelines...

We strongly believe that the health of our families far outweighs the benefits of a few hours of
socialization (or even education). If any person has had any of these symptoms in the last 24-hours before any class or activity, please do not attend.

~ Fever
~ Coughing
~ Sore Throat
~ Unexplained Rash
~ Runny Noses - unless the mucus is completely clear

Additionally, If ANY person in your family has had ANY of the following symptoms in the last 24-hour period, then NO member of the family may attend any class or activity. Please, be considerate of other families and keep these symptoms at home.

~ Flu or Flu-like symptoms
~ Vomiting
~ Diarrhea
~ Pink Eye
~ Croup
~ Strep Throat
~ Any other contagious illness/ condition (If in doubt, please contact a doctor or nurse first.)

Facilities Guidelines...

Our group has been greatly blessed by Discovery Bible Fellowship allowing us to use their facilities for the use of our functions. They have asked us for no rent in return; however, we do give them a love donation at the end of each school year. Out of respect for use of their facilities, please adhere to the following guidelines:

~ Put tables and chairs back where they were before the function began.
~ Sweep, vacuum, or take out trash, etc., if necessary.
~ Do not “rough-house” in doors.
~ Do not touch or go near the sound equipment.
~ Stay off of the stage area.
~ Do not wander through halls or into other rooms.
~ Observe parking lots and keep off grass and out of handicap spots (unless you have a permit).
~ If something is not working, out of order, accidentally broken or messed up, please tell the teacher or leader immediately. They will inform the church of the situation. If something breaks due to carelessness, the member may be required to help correct the situation.

Right to Refuse or Revoke Memberships...

In order to keep harmony in our group and for the protection of all our member families, the leadership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op does have the right to refuse or revoke memberships based on the following conditions:

~ Continuous violations or blatant disregard to the above guidelines
~ Any continuous activity in direct opposition to the Bible conviction of a felony that the leadership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op deems a possible safety issue for our member families
~ Any other reason the leadership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op deems necessary or best for the group

To refuse or revoke a membership, the leadership of Heritage Homeschool Co-Op will give the member(s) in question a chance to make amends before action is taken. If the situation cannot be rectified, a majority vote will be taken by the leadership.
